Making Hard Decisions

We make decisions everyday. What will I wear? What will I eat? How will I spend my time? Most of those are relatively easy to decide but what about the difficult decisions that we have to make in life? What should I do with my life? Should I accept this job, marry this person, buy this house? etc. How can we make decisions that will glorify God?

Many people you ask in the world may say, “Just follow your heart.” or “Have confidence in yourself and make the best decision you can.” or “Talk to a counselor ” But the problem with these “solutions” is that you can’t be certain that you’re making the right choice. Yes, counseling can be very helpful (Pro 11:14) but even the wisdom of man is as foolishness compared to God (1 Cor 1:25).

The bible says that if anyone needs wisdom, he should ask God and it will be given to him (James 1:5). God has plans for you and he knows what is best for you (Jer 29:11) so put your trust in Him instead of trusting in fallible man. In doing this, you can have confidence that you are honoring God in your decision.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6

Blessings,
